I've been physically active since running marathons three decades ago, so I was shocked how much weight I had gained — despite regular running and squash — when I watched a 2018 conference presentation I had given. Simultaneously, my dad developed early-onset Alzheimer's, and I desperately wanted to know why.

I dove into the science and discovered that my dad's sedentary lifestyle — like me, he was a programmer — and poor diet were huge causes of his Alzheimer's. So I committed to remaining active, improving my sleep, and greatly improving my nutrition. I've steadily lost nearly 30 pounds through a combination of a low-carb diet and intermittent fasting. And I'm committed to sharing what I've learned with others so they too can avoid "diseases of aging," many of which actually result from poor diets, insufficient sleep, lack of exercise, etc.
