Superfoods – is healthy eating just hype?
DW Documentary: Deutsche Welle (state-owned German public broadcaster)
2020-08-22 (25:54)
Are superfoods all that they’re cracked up to be? There’s plenty of worldwide hype about eating chia seeds, goji berries and quinoa - but what benefits do they really bring? This documentary looks at what superfoods do for people and more. How is the healthy eating boom influencing agriculture and business? There are more and more restaurants serving superfoods in Germany. Florian Klar of Bochum opened the first superfood bistro in the Ruhr region about a year ago. He buys in all types of food, using local suppliers when he can, but he also uses exotic superfoods in his meals.
Quinoa, goji berries and chia seeds can now all be found in supermarkets as well. The food industry has discovered selling these products is lucrative and changed its product selection accordingly. Superfoods are simply that a foodstuff contains a high amount of nutrients. "Every country has its own superfood,” says nutritionist Matthias Riedl. Blueberries, flax seed, blackcurrants, and kale are all superfoods native to Germany.
The film also takes viewers to Bolivia, a key quinoa exporter, to see how the hype has influenced farming there. Exports of the so-called "Inca corn” quadrupled between 2007 and 2013. The rising price of quinoa on global markets has led Andean farmers to increase the size of their fields. Yet after just two straight years of quinoa harvests, the soil is already exhausted and barren.

Healthy Grocery Haul | Doctor goes Grocery shopping
Dr Gil Carvalho: Nutrition Made Simple!

Grocery haul tips and strategies. A Doctor's Grocery Haul, complete with science and mindsets to personalize your own healthy grocery haul.Grocery haul day! Let’s get some healthy food. Before I hit the grocery store I make sure I have a list so I don’t wander around the grocery store
At the grocery store: I start in the produce section. This is 80% of my grocery haul
I'm shooting for variety. this is a Grocery haul for about 1 week
most of the grocery store I don’t even look at. If I have junk food at home, it’s getting eaten but at the store I can make these decisions consistently. The problem areas of the store are not even in my reality
this is an example of my weekly grocery haul, you have to personalize. take what works for you and ignore the rest
The whole grocery haul takes maybe 15mins
Some products are different in other countries. I made a video with a grocery haul in Japan so the principles can be applied cross-culturally
So that’s a typical grocery haul for me.
Don’t worry about replicating my grocery haul, just take what works for you!

Alzheimer's is Now Called Type 3 Diabetes - Is It Aging or Diet?
Becky Gillaspy, "graduated Summa Cum Laude with research honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic": Dr. Becky Gillaspy
2018-10-09 (4:24)
For many years, Alzheimer's was thought to be a consequence of aging with a genetic propensity toward getting it. In other words, there was nothing you could do to avoid it.But, new understandings about how the foods we eat impact the brain have many linking the disease to our diet and calling Alzheimer’s Disease - Type 3 Diabetes.
In this video, I will discuss how Alzheimer’s is linked to a pre-diabetic state called insulin resistance, AND, why that might be good news in the long run.

Hastings College of the Law.Dr. Lustig has fostered a global discussion of metabolic health and nutrition, exposing some of the leading myths that underlie the current pandemic of diet-related disease. He believes the food business, by pushing processed food loaded with sugar, has hacked our bodies and minds to pursue pleasure instead of happiness; fostering today’s epidemics of addiction and depression. Yet by focusing on real food, we can beat the odds against sugar, processed food, obesity, and disease.

8 Food Habits Keeping You Unhealthy | STOP the Self Sabotage
Dr Gil Carvalho: Nutrition Made Simple!
2021-01-11 (17:33)
Eating is a routine, so we develop automatic subconscious habits that guide our day to day choices without us even realizing it.Today we’re gna take a look at 8 bad food habits that keep us unhealthy
Before I realized these bad habits, I was getting unhealthy. When I replaced my bad food habits with good food habits, my health changed dramatically.
You’re probably thinking it takes a lot of time to eat healthy and it’s a sacrifice, you can never eat anything you like. truth is I spend LESS time cooking and I enjoy my food more due to good habits being in place and dodging the bad habits
Bad food habit #1 is relying on willpower
We’ve all made new years resolutions but time goes by and we go back to old habits. we put pressure on ourselves to change but don’t set up the conditions to succeed. success is less about willpower and more about skillpower.
Willpower instinct: great willpower is not about fighting instincts, its about harnessing them
We can make our willpower battles easier by using leverage
Self-control is rooted in self-knowledge
Bad food habit #2: fear of standing out. eating is a cultural and social event
It’s normal for people to notice your change of habit and ask.
What if you live with people who have different habits?
In some ways it strengthens the habit
The 3rd habit to kick to the curb is shopping for the advice we wana hear
Most common health concerns, losing some weight, lowering cholesterol or glucose are doable with some tweaks to our lifestyle
Bad food habit #4 is the one-size-fits-all diet. why shouldn’t our health goals be personalized?
We decide to eat xyz, then we don’t stick with it and we feel like a failure.
Basic principles apply to everybody. Smoking isn’t healthy for anyone and neither is a diet full of ultraprocessed foods, added salt and sugar and saturated fat. But there is a lot of wiggle room
If your eating plan is so strict it requires u to cheat, maybe you're going too far too fast.
It’s ironic that one of the main obstacles when trying to fix our eating habits is to bite off more than we can chew
Who wants to lose 3lb in a month? We wana lose 30 or 40. or overhaul our entire diet overnight
The yo-yo of losing weight and putting it back is destructive. So kick the habit of choosing goals made by and for other people.
4 habits down. Bad food habit #5 is identifying with our habits
We say things like I wana get fit but I just don’t like to exercise. I wana eat healthy but I just like junk food too much. our preferences are just habits we built
Bad food habit #6 is confusing simple with easy,
Eating healthy is simple but not easy. Fresh fruits and vegetables, easy on the processed stuff. that’s 90% of nutrition. you already know how to eat healthy
Bad food habit #7 is obsession with the short term
The habits you built 10y ago are still with you. losing weight is good, but it’s 1 component of health. Every healthy dietary pattern will help you move towards and maintain a healthy weight, but not every diet that helps you lose weight is healthy.
What goes for weight loss, goes for the obsession with muscles and six pack abs. I see people throwing their health to the wind for the promise of bigger muscles
Theories that you need to load up on saturated fat or cut fiber-rich foods to get buff and lean. None of that is true, you can get fit and build muscle on a health-promoting diet with adequate protein intake and the right physical activity
You don’t need to compromise your long-term health to get short-term results so do not settle
Last bad food habit is minimizing the impact of food habits
Warren Buffet: chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.
Get started as soon as you can. you don’t need a grand new years resolution like losing 100lbs or getting a 12 pack
Here are ways to save money while eating healthy and 7 things about food I wish I knew long ago

Fasting vs. Eating Less: What's the Difference? (Science of Fasting)
What I've Learned
One of the key things in being able to fast in a healthy matter is entering the state of ketosis - that is, switching your metabolism from burning carbohydrate to burning fat. *Considering most people have been burning carbohydrate their whole lives* this can make fasting a challenge. Upton Sinclair recommends doing quite long fasts - 12 days, but you may want to work your way up to longer fasts. Unless you are relatively keto adapted (or have experience with fasting of course), it's important that you take precautions while doing a fast. Fasting isn't inherently dangerous, *but diving into fasting when your body is in no way geared for it can be.* I recommend doing more research before doing longer fasts. "The Complete Guide to Fasting" (http://amzn.to/2tQjxXa) is a good book to start with.As Tim Ferriss puts it: Please don't do anything stupid and kill yourself. It would make us both quite unhappy.

Reversing dementia with diet: A 2021 update
Dr Paul Mason, Sports Medicine and Exercise Physician: Dr Paul Mason
2021-06-25 (19:36)
Alzheimer's disease is a condition which first identified a little over 100 years ago. Since then, it has become an epidemic. The reason for this is that Alzheimer's disease, which causes 70% of all cases of dementia, is a metabolic disease of the brain. And our metabolic health has gotten far worse in recent decades. This is why drug companies who believe Alzheimers' is a genetic condition have failed, despite spending billions of dollars. Don't be misled by the recent approval of an a drug (Aduhelm) by the FDA - 10 of 11 members of the FDA's own scientific advisory panel expressed the opinion that the use of this new (and expensive) drug was not supported by science.Nor does the promise of genetic therapy offer much hope. How could genetics explain a condition which has gone from being only just described a little over 100 years ago to epidemic proporotions. Rather it is much more likely that lifestyle is to blame. Even the APOE4 gene doesn't necessarily mean one will develop dementia, for genetics is not fate.

Diet and health has always been a big topic as of recently, especially with the number of overweight and obese people with diabetes increasing. While there is a bit of a fight between low carb and high carb, the thing that deserves the most attention is quitting sugar, as cutting out refined sugars and processed foods is the most sure-fire way to improving health and regulating weight. The mindset and approach of really understanding how and why bad habits like this develop can be applied to all sorts of things (stop smoking etc)Source: What I've Learned

I had so many requests for a healthy back to school snack haul! I did a deep dive into all things snacks, drinks, dips, and was really surprised how many bad quality products are out there. These are products for kids, yet they are filling them with chemicals, nasty preservatives, sugar, low quality oils, and more. For this back to school healthy haul I went to two grocery stores and will have two videos total. Walmart had a ton of snacks, but many of them were not Bobby Approved. Then I went to Whole Foods and found a bunch more quality snacks, but even many of those had ingredients I would not feed kids. Cancer as a Mitochondrial Metabolic Disease
Thomas Seyfried, PhD, professor of biology at Boston College and author of "Cancer as a Metabolic Disease": CrossFit®
2019-09-24 (54:21)
Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D., is a biochemical geneticist, professor of biology at Boston College, and author of the groundbreaking book Cancer as a Metabolic Disease. As part of a lecture delivered on July 31, 2018, at the annual CrossFit Health Conference, Seyfried presented a report card on our current approaches to treating cancer in the United States. Looking at data from the American Cancer Society on cancer incidence and deaths per day between 2013 and 2017, he noted death rates are actually on the rise. “The more money we raise for cancer, the more cancer we get,” he observed. “So you have to ask, ‘What is going on here?’ ... This is a failure of monumental proportions.”The reason for the failure “has to do with a fundamental misunderstanding of what the nature of this disease is,” he explained. “We’ve been led to believe that this is a genetic disease, and I’ll present evidence to say that it’s not.”
The belief that cancer is a genetic disease associated with somatic mutation has become dogma, Seyfried explained, and this dogma shaped much of the cancer research and treatment protocols of the twentieth century. So-called cutting-edge treatments, such as personalized therapy and precision medicine, are based on this viewpoint.
Unfortunately, the viewpoint is wrong, as Seyfried explained in “Cancer as a Mitochondrial Metabolic Disease,” an article published in Frontiers in 2015. There, he aggregated existing research on cancer and reevaluated the information in light of the two competing theories on the origin of the disease (i.e., cancer as a genetic or metabolic disease).
The research he surveyed supported Otto Warburg’s theory that cancer develops as a result of disturbed energy metabolism. Seyfried and his colleagues compared nuclear-cytoplasmic transfer and mitochondrial transfer experiments and found that the mitochondria are “calling the shots, not the nucleus,” which is “the opposite of what we would expect if this were a genetic disease,” he explained.
Seyfried then described what he and his colleagues believe is the missing link in Warburg’s theory. Normal healthy cells derive energy from oxidative phosphorylation. Cancer cells, on the other hand, get energy through fermentation. What Seyfried and his colleagues discovered — and what Warburg did not know — is that cancer cells can ferment not only lactic acid but amino acids as well. That is to say, cancer cells can derive energy for proliferation from glucose and glutamine. Thus, to remove a cancer cell’s energy source, one has to remove its access to fermentable fuels, and an effective way to do this, Seyfried found, is through calorie restriction and ketosis.
Calorie restriction and ketosis, he explained, are anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, and pro-apoptotic. “No cancer drug is known that can do this without toxicity,” he said. He then added that those who claim they don’t understand the mechanism by which calorie restriction and ketosis work are full of “bullshit.” “They don’t read the literature. Nor do they contribute to it,” he said.
Seyfried’s cancer research, particularly on aggressive forms of cancer such as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and other stage 4 cancers, led to his development of a glucose-ketone index calculator and the press-pulse therapeutic strategy. The calculator helps patients monitor their progress toward therapeutic ketosis. The press-pulse method pairs press therapies, such as following a keto diet while taking ketone supplements and practicing stress management, with pulse therapies, such as taking glucose and glutamine inhibitors while undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments. During his presentation, Seyfried explained how and why these methods are more effective for cancer patients than traditional standard of care.
“GBM and other stage 4 cancers — I don’t consider them as terminal cancers,” he said.

Sugar Withdrawal is Like Opioid Withdrawal
Dr Tracey Marks, Psychiatrist: Dr Tracey Marks
2018-06-13 (7:56)
Sugar withdrawal is like opioid withdrawal. Sugar withdrawal is real. Sugar withdrawal symptoms include headaches, muscle cramps, bloating, but the mental effect can include feeling depressed or anxious. Excessive sugar intake produces an increase in the endorphins that your body makes. Sugar also activates dopamine, which is the reward system in your brain. You'll need to pay close attention to the hidden sugars in processed foods to be able to stop eating sugar.

This Is How Caffeine Affects Sleep and Productivity: Matthew Walker
Dr Rangan Chatterjee
2021-03-21 (11:00)
Today’s guest is world-leading sleep researcher, author of the international best-selling book ‘Why We Sleep’ and Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology, Matthew Walker.Matthew shares research on the effects of caffeine on our sleep.
Caffeine is a sleep disruptor, and just one dose of caffeine in the evening can decrease the amount of deep sleep by 20%
Caffeine has a half-life of around 6-7 hours, but a quarter-life of around 12 hours. If you have a cup of coffee at noon, a quarter of that caffeine can still be circulating around your brain at midnight.
We often don’t think about the implications of our caffeine consumption - but consuming our caffeine before noon, or switching to decaffeinated drinks, could have benefits for the quality of our sleep.

Rare Interview with Nobel Prize Winner, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi on Autophagy
Naomi Whittel
2019-04-20 (28:23)
On a recent trip to Japan, I was fortunate enough to have met and interviewed some very interesting individuals, each of whom will be highlighted in upcoming videos. I spoke to an award-winning scientist on his studies on the incredible effects of hydrogen on the human body, as well as visiting a hydrogen spa and partaking in their hydrogen facial! I also met a beauty expert who imparted so much fascinating knowledge that us westerners simply aren’t aware of that contribute toward their amazing youthful appearance and glowing skin. And in my spare time I simply soaked in the amazing culture, which, as a wellness explorer, and being ever curious, allowed me a glimpse into Japan’s goldmine of fascinating information with regards to health, nutrition, and longevity. I had a camera in tow, so expect to see a lot of content coming soon! However, of all the wonderful and insightful experiences I had during my trip, none were quite as overwhelming and memorable as my interview with the renowned, Nobel prize-winning (2016) scientist, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi, an expert on autophagy, for which his studies and findings won him many awards worldwide, as well as the coveted Nobel Prize, and shed light on new areas of fasting and autophagy.
Autophagy is a word which many of you have heard but for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it literally translates as self-eating, coming from the Greek words: auto — self, and phagy — to eat. You may have heard me mention the word while talking about fasting, a subject that fascinates me endlessly, and of which I am a strong proponent. In fact, my first book, Glow15, was written on the subject. However, do not fear, self-eating doesn’t mean cannibalization! It is a miraculous a natural process in the body whereby our bodies will literally eat our toxic cells, resulting in cellular recycling, which can, among many other things, help prevent chronic illness. It is also a complete body detox and of course works against the aging process by “eating” or degrading damaged organelles, cell membranes and proteins. When autophagy slows or does not function properly, it is thought to be one of the main reasons for the accumulation of damaged cells and aging. It is a science that does not cease to amaze me. And, as Dr. Ohsumi says himself: in his 30 years of study on the subject and to date, we only understand about 30% of the science and miracle of autophagy.
Being a very private and introverted individual, I was deeply honored to have been granted access to Dr. Ohsumi’s laboratory at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and to sit and chat with him about his studies. This rare opportunity was truly an honor and one of his first filmed interviews since winning the Nobel prize in 2016. Dr. Ohsumi is a gentleman, and the epitome of Japanese politeness and humility, as well as being a very soft spoken, modest individual.
I hope the information in this video inspires you to learn more on the subject of fasting and autophagy. It is an area we will be devoting a lot of time to and exploring within this channel, so if you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to receive notifications on upcoming videos. I would also encourage you to check out some of our other existing videos on fasting.

Processed Vs. Natural Foods (Shocking)
Dr. Jason Fung, Canadian board-vertified nephrologist: Jason Fung
2021-09-05 (10:30)
Processed foods play a huge, largely under recognized role in obesity and weight gain. Processed foods cause obesity as our bodies often over eat these foods. There are no natural satiety signals in these processed foods. Fasting often helps us get around the problem of processed foods. Dr. Jason Fung: CrossFit
2020-07-13 (58:50)
This month’s CrossFit Health Education webinar features Dr. Jason Fung, who will be discussing fasting as a therapeutic option for weight loss.In preparation for the webinar, investigative science and health journalist Gary Taubes speaks with Dr. Fung about his research. Dr. Fung outlines his clinical experience with intermittent fasting — in particular how he came to use intermittent fasting in his practice despite receiving contrary recommendations from his peers and medical education. He describes the benefits of intermittent fasting to both diabetic and nondiabetic patients and explains how he implements fasting protocols on a patient-by-patient basis. This leads to a broader discussion of the metabolic impact of fasting, how these biological changes compare to those triggered by low-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets, and how hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia contribute to metabolic disease progression.

The BEST Tortillas At The Grocery Store - Wraps, Chips, Low Carb, & More!
FlavCity with Bobby Parrish
2019-09-21 (19:22)
I went to Walmart and Whole Foods to do a huge review of tortillas and tortilla chips. We talk about wraps, low carb tortillas, grain free and paleo chips and wrap, tortilla chips, taco shells, and more! There are so many tortilla options at the store, but once you learn to read the labels, you can identify the good from the bad immediately. I look for two things in tortillas, what type of oil they cook them in, and is the corn non-GMO. Also, wraps need to be whole grains and low carb tortillas can't be full of nasty oils and preservatives. Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXOSource: FlavCity with Bobby Parrish

The Most Important Molecule for Health You Have Never Heard Of: Nitric Oxide
Dr Louis Ignarro, winner of Nobel Prize in Medicine for discovery of nitric oxide: Mark Hyman, MD
2021-04-07 (1:00:03)
What if I told you one single thing could work as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, neurotransmitter, and vasodilator and that it helps promote memory and learning, increase arousal in both men and women, protect against sun damage and skin cancer, and regulate digestive enzymes and hormones? You’d want some of that, wouldn’t you? Well, nitric oxide is capable of all of this and more. Our bodies naturally produce this molecule but, due to lifestyle factors, some of us make more than others. Luckily for us, there are many things we can do to increase our nitric oxide levels and reap the health benefits.Today I’m honored to sit down and talk with the man who actually discovered nitric oxide, Dr. Louis Ignarro. Dr. Ignarro is a medical research scientist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his breakthrough discovery of nitric oxide and how it positively impacts health and longevity. His groundbreaking research on nitric oxide paved the way for—among other innovations—Viagra. He is an award-winning Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Molecular & Medical Pharmacology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and has his Ph.D. in Pharmacology with over 35 years of experience teaching.

HUGE Cereal Haul - What Cereals To Buy & Avoid At the Grocery Store!
Bobby Parrish: FlavCity with Bobby Parrish
2019-06-01 (16:03)
Guess who's back...back again! You asked for it more than an other grocery item, so here is my complete review of breakfast cereals. I did lots of research and went to many grocery stores for this haul video, because I wanted to give you guy a full list of which cereals to buy, and which to avoid. The bad news is that most cereals in the grocery stores, including the ones in your pantry, are garbage! High sugar, too much corn and rice, and not enough protein and fiber. That's a recipe for diabetes and for feeling hungry 1 hour later. You need to do some digging, bu there are many brands of healthy cereals out there that are loaded with whole grains, protein, and fiber, and have low to no sugar. Let me know what grocery items to do next! Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXOSource: Bobby Parrish: FlavCity with Bobby Parrish
Unprocessed - How I gave up processed foods (and why it matters)
Megan Kimble, managing editor of Edible Baja Arizona (TEDxTucsonSalon)
2014-08-04 (14:13)
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. n January of 2012, Megan Kimble was a city-dwelling 26-year-old—busy and broke, living in a small apartment without so much as a garden plot to her name. But she cared about food: where it came from, how it was made, and what it did to her body. So she set herself a challenge: She would go an entire year without eating processed foods. In this talk, she discusses what makes a food processed and how those processes impact our bodies and communities.Megan Kimble is the managing editor of Edible Baja Arizona, a local food magazine serving Tucson and the borderlands, and is a regular contributor to the Los Angeles Times. Her book, Unprocessed, about her year of eating only whole, unprocessed food, is forthcoming from William Morrow in 2015. Follow along at megankimble.com.

Metabolical: The Lure and the Lies of Processed Food, Nutrition, and Modern Medicine
Dr Robert Lustig, MD, MSL, Professor Emeritus, Division of Endocrinology, UC San Francisco: Commonwealth Club of California
2021-05-18 (1:10:32)
Food processing isn’t listed on the nutrition facts food label. The label tells you what’s in the food. Critics say this is mostly irrelevant—what you really need to know is what’s been done to the food, and no label tells you that. In this program, Dr. Robert Lustig will expllain nutrition and food science. He says that essentially, all you need to know are two precepts, six words total: 1) protect the liver, 2) feed the gut. Those foods that satisfy both precepts he deems to be healthy; those that do neither are poison, and those that do one or the other are bad (but less bad)—no matter what the USDA and FDA allow to be stated on the package. Only items that meet both of Lustig's criteria qualify as real food—i.e., that hasn’t been stripped of its beneficial properties and sprinkled with toxins that will hasten our demise.Dr. Robert H. Lustig is professor emeritus of pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco. He specializes in the field of neuroendocrinology, with an emphasis on the regulation of energy balance by the central nervous system. Take Back Your Health - with Dr. Robert H. Lustig
Robert H. Lustig, M.D., M.S.L. is Professor emeritus of Pediatrics, Division of Endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF): DavidPerlmutterMD

The Source of Our Most Challenging EpidemicAs you may recall, the last time we had the opportunity to interview Dr. Robert Lustig was when he published The Hacking of the American Mind, elucidating how the processed food industry has hacked our bodies and minds to pursue pleasure over happiness, fueling widespread addiction and depression. I'm excited to let everyone know that we again have the opportunity to feature Dr. Robert Lustig on the podcast talking about his new book METABOLICAL. This new work addresses nutrition, food science, and global health, and explains how by focusing on real food we can reverse chronic disease and promote longevity. For the first time, all strands of this pandemic—the medical, the economic, and the environmental—are pulled together into one clear narrative. And to be sure, the pandemic we are referring to is the pandemic of chronic, noninfectious, preventable diseases, not COVID-19.
Describing the eight pathologies within the cell that belie all chronic disease, Dr. Lustig illustrates how they are not “druggable” but rather “foodable” (i.e. medication can’t cure what nutrition can) by following two basic principles: protect the liver, and feed the gut. He uses this science to chronicle the breakdown in our current healthcare paradigm, which has succumbed to influence from Big Food, Big Pharma, and Big Government. In the special chapter “Food in the Time of Corona,” Dr. Lustig addresses the way “pre-existing conditions” (i.e. diet-induced chronic diseases) make us vulnerable to succumbing to acute infectious diseases like COVID-19. He also argues that the Nutrition Facts label hides information from the consumer by omitting what’s been done to the food, which is more important than what’s in the food.
Weaving together the interconnected strands of nutrition, disease, medicine, environment, and society, METABOLICAL provides the scientific bases for a series of iconoclastic revelations, among them:
Medicine for chronic disease only treats symptoms, not the disease itself
You can diagnose your own biochemical profile
Processed food isn’t just toxic, it’s addictive
The war between vegan and keto is a false war—the combatants are on the same side
Big Food, Big Pharma, and Big Government are on the other side
Our guest, Robert H. Lustig, M.D., MSL, is professor of pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology and a member of the Institute for Health Policy Studies at University of California, San Francisco. He has authored 120 peer-reviewed articles and 70 reviews. He has mentored 30 pediatric endocrine fellows and trained numerous other allied health professionals. He is the former chairman of the Obesity Task Force of the Pediatric Endocrine Society, a member of the Obesity Task Force of the Endocrine Society, and a member of the Pediatric Obesity Devices Committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He is also the president of the nonprofit Institute for Responsible Nutrition, dedicated to reversing childhood obesity and Type 2 Diabetes. He consults for several childhood obesity advocacy groups and government agencies.
